In May 2011, among technical reasons we vacated our main website from WordPress because we felt that it was becoming too dependent on financial contributions from bloggers like ourselves as well as too intrusive in the way it handled third party ads. It was not the ads themselves that made us upset necessarily, but the fact you could not control their frequency nor ever see any of the remunerations. (If you would like to see for yourself, just check out some of our older posts in our News Archive.) In fact, in the past we tried adding ads to our then "listening page" but we only made 15 cents in a 5 month period. More importantly, besides obnoxious and worthless, ads of this nature only contribute to the very thing we are against, capitalism in all its greed.
In addition to the ads, we also tried to set up a PayPal donation option which was working, somewhat; we received a single, very generous contribution of U.S. $50. However, the PayPal donation button was eventually removed in solidarity with WikiLeaks as it was undergoing several attacks from governments and computer service companies like PayPal.
We end our boycott, not because there is a lack of solidarity with WikiLeaks, but because we find ourselves in need again.
In addition, and by popular demand, we are currently working out how (and where) to bring you some live shows.
We only ask you to contribute a minimum of U.S. $1, something you could have spent without notice at a coffee shop. Our need is not tremendous, we spend approximately U.S. $250 per year on server and storage costs, as well as minor applications that make our radio station more accessible to everybody. We don't pay our DJs, they do this out of love. Please show us some love too!
